Lake Bled is in the immediate vicinity of Austria (15 minutes’ drive) and Italy (40 minutes’ drive). Nestled into the Julian Alps and the Karavanke Mountains, it has crystal-clear lake waters, a tiny island and there is a mighty castle rising on a rock above the town.
