Nürnberg
Nuremberg (Nuernberg in German) is located in the central part of Bavaria, lying on both banks of the Pegnitz river. The history of the city goes back to 1050, when it was first mentioned in records as Norenberg. Now Nuremberg is a modern city with lot of surprises waiting for you. Public squares are decorated with numerous monuments, sculptures and fountains. Marriage Roundabout (Ehekarussel), being one of the most prominent fountains in Europe, has a few dozens of statues depicting the scenes of "Bittersweet Marital Life" poem by Hans Sachs.
As early as around 1070 Nurnberg becomes a favorite place for travelers. The first Nuremberg ‘tourists’ were pilgrims visiting the tomb of St. Sebaldus. Presently hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the World are coming there to feel the real ‘spirit of Germany’.
By the way, when arriving in Nuremberg on business or just as a tourist, you have the greatest possible choice of ways to accommodate yourself. Nuremberg apartments at any taste and for any purse can be found in Nuremberg: from cozy budget Nuremberg accommodation right in the centre of the Old City to feudal 5 star hotel in Nuremberg, where even Prince Leopold of Bavaria and Thailand Royal Couple used to stay. There number of young travelers from all over the world is especially great in the youth cheap Nuremberg hotel Keiserstallung, located near the imperial castle. You can’t find any luxury rooms in it, but there is free and easy atmosphere against a historical background here. You can find cheap Nuremberg hotels not far from the main tube (they call it ‘U-Bahn’ here) stations and the centre of the city, or in the medieval part of Nuremberg. Modern features such as conference equipment, TV-sets, phone, fax, radio, Internet are also widely available in Nuremberg apartments.
Nuremberg is famous for its unique atmosphere, appreciated by many creative minds. Among them are artists, poets, philosophers, composers and craftsmen. Peter Hinlein invented the first real pocket watch, and Martin Beheim made the first globe here. Albrecht Duerer, one of the greatest German painters and graphic artists of his time, must not be forgotten too.
A magnetic pole for not only experts but for all kids is the Museum of toys: amazing collection of toys from the entire world from Albrecht Duerer’s childhood to the era of Barby.
Now, that you have visited all sights of Nuremberg, got your photos with figures of Ehekarussel or Keiserburg Castle as a background and bought a lot of toys for all your relatives under 7 years old at Nuremberg toy-fair, do you think you’ve seen enough to just leave the city? No, you definitely can’t do it without having a try on legendary Nuremberg wurst (sausages), which are little-finger-thin but unlimitedly tasty.
This is Nuremberg for you: young city with thousand-year-old history; home for musicians, philosophers and craftsmen; keep of the best German traditions of hospitality; harmony as it is.
