Sozopol is the oldest Greek colony on the Black Sea coast, founded in the 6th century B.C., and called Apollonia at that time. The town houses unique architectural and historical monuments, which give Sozopol its ancient atmosphere.
Today, Sozopol is a colourful resort town with picturesque alleys, old houses, and beautiful beaches. The biggest attraction is the old town with its interesting old-style wooden houses, some of them are national monuments, narrow cobbled stone streets, remnants of an ancient fort wall, and beautiful cliffs used for sunbathing and diving.
